The president of CEOE International, Marta Blanco, received the ambassador of Nepal in Spain, Sarmila Parajuli, at the headquarters of the organisation. Blanco explained to her the work that the employers’ organisation is carrying out at national and international level and the possibilities for collaboration during her stay in our country.
The meeting also highlighted the possibilities offered by Nepal for Spanish companies related to renewable energies and tourism and the potential of the Asian country in the production and management of hydroelectric energy and green hydrogen, as well as the will of the Nepalese government to diversify its economy.
Another of the sectors that the ambassador pointed to was chemicals, especially fertilisers.
Nepal and Spain established diplomatic relations on 14 May 1968. Nepal has had an embassy in Madrid since 2018.
India remains Nepal’s largest trading partner, accounting for over 60 per cent of Nepal’s exports and imports with the world. Major products exported by Nepal include: palm oil, carpets and other textile coverings, yarn of polyester and other man-made fibres and synthetic textiles. Meanwhile, Nepal’s imports include fossil fuels: diesel, oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as well as iron and steel.
The Spanish business presence in Nepal is fundamentally linked to energy and transport infrastructure projects, and water management.
