Peter Mommsen, great-grandson of Theodor Mommsen, was a teacher, headmaster, researcher and head of the Mommsen family archives and heritage. After his retirement in 2022, he has mainly been involved in research activities. As organiser of the Mommsen Family Days and manager of the family archives, he had the opportunity to gain direct access to unpublished or lost documents of Theodor Mommsen, such as the bust made by Reinhold Begas in 1887, which was presented in the Würzburg Yearbooks (journal of antiquarian science) in 2016 on the occasion of his 200th birthday.
