The Diplomat
The new Ambassador of Oman to Spain, Omar Said Omar Al Kathiri, presented last week the Style Copies of his Letters of Credence to the Ambassadors’ introducer, María Sebastián de Erice.
Al Khathiri went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Palace of Santa Cruz on the 2nd of November, to carry out the procedure prior to the delivery of Letters of Credence before the King and to begin his task as the new diplomatic representative of Oman in our country.
According to the Omani Embassy on its Twitter account, during the presentation of the Style Copies, the Ambassador and the Ambassador Introducer agreed on the willingness to strengthen relations and also stressed the importance of the role of the Spanish Embassy in Muscat in this task.
The new Omani ambassador was already in Spain to study for a Master’s degree in International Relations at the Diplomatic School in Madrid before beginning his career as a diplomat twenty years ago.
The Spanish Embassy is the first to be headed by Al Khatir, who, however, has already served for some time, in 2010, as Oman’s Chargé d’Affaires in Brazil.
Throughout his diplomatic career, Omar Al Khatiri has worked in the American affairs department at the Ministry and was deputy director of the South America division. He has also been posted to the US Embassy in Washington, the Permanent Representation of Oman to the United Nations in New York and the Embassy in Canada.
