The Cold War marked international relations for more than four decades of global rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union. A systemic conflict as well as a radical era, the Cold War conditioned the life of humanity in many ways. Far from being a distant past, today we see the Cold War as an unfinished story. After the promises of globalisation and a new harmonious and cooperative world order inspired by the West, today geopolitics and the dynamics of rivalry and conflict once again govern relations between the great powers, casting the shadow of that historical era over our present. This book deciphers the complexity of the Cold War by providing not only a reconstruction of the historical facts, but also the keys to their interpretation. The result is a work which, beyond the East-West political and military conflict, pays attention to the social, economic and cultural aspects and to the multiplicity of actors and scenarios at play, in a global perspective. A compact yet methodical text that allows the reader to get to know and understand the Cold War. Please confirm your attendance by filling in the form below.
