“Egypt and Spain share fundamental interests and challenges in the Mediterranean, in addition to similar views on multilateral issues,” said the Defence Attaché of the Egyptian Embassy, Colonel Mohamed Moawad, during the reception he hosted at the La Dehesa Military Sports Club to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the Victory of 6 October.
Moawad pointed out that “Spain is a key partner in the development of many national projects in Egypt with the participation of numerous Spanish companies, among others, in the Suez Canal or in the desalination of seawater”. He added that “there is no better evidence of the strength of our bilateral relations than the official visit of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to Egypt in December 2021”.
“As for military cooperation, it goes back many years and both sides have always sought to strengthen it,” the colonel said, thanking the heads of the Ministry of Defence and senior Spanish military commanders for “their continued support” for the office he heads.
The event was attended by numerous senior Spanish military commanders, representatives of the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs, military attachés and ambassadors.
