Spain will deliver six helicopters to Peru for a symbolic price of 600 euros, according to an agreement adopted on Tuesday by the Council of Ministers.
The six SH-3D helicopters, with their associated spare parts, are “in a situation of low availability”. With the agreement, the navy will be able to dispose of a material that it will replace and thus strengthen its relationship with the Latin American country’s navy, according to the government.
The government explained that the obsolescence of the material, its high repair costs, transport costs, limited marketing opportunities and, consequently, its low market value, are in contrast to its inventory value, which it does not detail.
The symbolic figure of 600 euros has been set “based on the clear logistical benefit for the Navy, by facilitating a final destination for this material and also with the aim of strengthening the fluid and trusting relationship that exists between the Navy and the Peruvian Navy”.
