The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, will appear next Monday afternoon at his own request before the Joint Committee for the EU to report on the preparations for the European Presidency in the second half of 2023, according to diplomatic sources confirmed to Europa Press.
In the request made by the Government, and signed by the Secretary of State for Relations with Parliament, Rafael Simancas, it is specified that the aim of the appearance is to “report on the state of preparations and prospects for the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union” in the second half of 2023.
This will be the second time that Albares has appeared before the Joint Committee for the EU, made up of deputies and senators, since he became minister. The last time was in November 2021, a few months after his appointment in July of that year. The meeting is scheduled for 5.30 p.m., according to sources.
