The Centro Sefarad-Israel remembers the lawyer from Barcelona Jorge Trias, who was responsible for taking Violeta Friedman to the Constitutional Court in her fight against the Nazi León Degrelle, tomorrow Wednesday at 6 pm.
Born in Barcelona on 13 July 1948, Jorge Trias graduated in Law and became treasurer of the Governing Board of the Madrid Bar Association. Between 1975 and 1976 he was the organisational secretary of the Lliga de Catalunya, in 1977 he was advisor to the Ministry of Justice for the reform of the penitentiary system and, between 1983 and 1991, he was vice-president of the Spanish Committee of the European League for Economic Cooperation.
Trias was also in charge of taking the case of Violeta Friedman v. León Degrelle to the Constitutional Court. A case that became a benchmark in the fight against negationism, not only in Spain but also in the rest of the world. It is precisely because of her work in the legal fight against Shoah denialism that Centro Sefarad-Israel wishes to pay tribute to her. Free admission with prior confirmation at this link.
