The United Nations Global Compact and its local network in Spain, together with Fundación ICO and ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, have announced their commitment to collaborate in an alliance to boost the responsible management of the global supply chain of Spanish companies.
The program will primarily help large companies and SMEs to respond to regulatory requirements by providing sustainability training to supply chains, under the frameworks of the Ten Principles and the 2030 Agenda.
The pilot project, which will run from 2022 to 2023, will mainly involve large companies and some 5,000 SME suppliers. This is a pioneering United Nations project with the potential to be replicated in other countries where the Global Compact operates, created in 1989 at the initiative of the then United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan, and which represents the largest voluntary corporate social responsibility initiative in the world.
