The Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei, in collaboration with the Sónar International Festival of Advanced Music, presents the Taiwanese artist veeeky (Wei Chia Wu), in a unique session that mixes visual art with sound art, which will take place next Thursday 16 June on the SonarComplex stage of the Sónar by Day section at 2pm at the Fira Montjuic, Avenida Rius i Taulet in Barcelona.
The Taiwanese artist veeeky, born in Kaohsiung and raised in Taipei, began her professional career as co-founder of “Bounce Girlz”, a group focused on making events and music content while studying sociology at the National Taiwan University. Her approach to synchronising and blending sound and visuals is limitless, a multimedia artist, DJ, and tech-savvy programmer who experiments between the real and the digital. She also uses video art to explore the thinking of contemporary society through the internet.
At Sónar 2022, she will bring together her musical and visual practices in a live narrative that will explore themes of technology and fantasy, the real and the hyperreal by presenting her project “Bei Ming Jiao Li”, a story set in a post-anthropocene era, based on a fairy tale from a mountain in East Asia. It depicts how puny humans are competing against themselves through a long labyrinth of technology as they are expanding their territory in virtual “time and space”.
