The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, is one of three Spaniards taking part in the meetings of the influential Bildeberg Club, which are taking place until Sunday in Washington.
Every year, the Bildeberg Club brings together businessmen, political leaders and personalities from all over the world to discuss the most topical international issues.
On this occasion, together with Albares, the former president of the PP, Pablo Casado, and the CEO of the PRISA Group, Carlos Núñez, have been invited to attend the meetings with more than a hundred participants from all over the world, including this year the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger; the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg; King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands; William Burns (Director of the CIA); Eric Schmidth (Chairman of Google/Alphabet); Albert Bourla (CEO of Pfizer); Paul Achleitner (Deutsche Bank); José Manuel Barroso (Goldman Sachs); Zanny Bedoes (The Economist, owned by the Rothschild and Agnelli families); and Gideon Rachman (Financial Times).
The debates, which are being held behind closed doors, without the presence of the press, are focusing on the following topics: Geopolitical reorganisation, NATO challenges, China, Indo-Pacific reorganisation, Sino-US technological competition, Russia, Continuity of government and the economy, Disruption of the global financial system, Disinformation, Energy security and sustainability, Post-pandemic health Fragmentation of democratic societies, Trade and de-globalisation, and Ukraine.
