On Thursday 12 May at 19.30 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, La Filarmónica Concert Society presents the 2nd and 4th Symphonies by the German Romantic composer, pianist and conductor Johannes Brahms. The two masterpieces will be performed by the Radio Sweden Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Harding.
Considered by some to be Brahms’ “Pastoral Symphony” because of its connection to the music of Beethoven and its evocations of Lake Worth and the countryside setting of Pörtschach, the celebrated Second Symphony is a masterpiece and a hymn to Nature of unparalleled beauty. In May 2018, conductor Daniel Harding offered a luminous and revelatory Brahms Third Symphony. Now he returns to offer the Second and Fourth with the fantastic Radio Sweden Symphony, a top-quality orchestra with a personal and brilliant sound. Tickets can be purchased here.
