On Thursday 7 April at 6.30 p.m., the Instituto Francés de Madrid will be holding a workshop in its Café Philo, led by Federico Ocaña, in Spanish with texts in French, presented by the Mediateca ¿Qué soberanía para Europa?, which had to be postponed last February. Free of charge with prior reservation.
During the first half of 2022, France will take over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union. Under the slogan “A more sovereign Europe”, Emmanuel Macron has proposed a boost to the concept of sovereignty. This is a concept that has undergone significant transformations in political thought. It therefore requires us to know from what point of view we are committed to greater sovereignty for Europe, and even, in the light of this reflection, to rethink the very meaning of Europe.
This political cycle is an invitation to reformulate, with the help of the European philosophical tradition, a key concept for our future at a time of necessary rethinking of issues such as European identity and the threat of the identity withdrawal of the nation-states that make up the Union, the capitalist logic that dominates the geopolitical map, the production model or the agenda for combating climate change.
