Pedro Azagra Blázquez has been appointed new CEO of Avangrid, Iberdrola’s US subsidiary, taking over from Dennis Arriola, who has not even completed two years at the helm of the company, reports Europa Press.
Azagra, who has been a member of Avangrid’s board since 2019 and previously also belonged to the company’s governing body between 2014 and 2018, is director of Corporate Development at Iberdrola, where he has executed more than a hundred transactions and led the group’s international expansion.
He is also a member of Avangrid’s Executive Committee and of the Special Committee of its board, which is responsible, among other things, for assisting the governing body in the supervision of the New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) transmission line project.
A graduate in Business Administration and Law from the Instituto Católico de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ICADE) of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas de Madrid and MBA from the University of Chicago (USA), he developed his professional career in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley until joining the Iberdrola group.
