Until Saturday 26th February, Teatro de la Zarzuela premieres El sobre verde, by maestro Jacinto Guerrero, a story about the “side effects” of money, starring artists aged 18 to 30, as part of the theatre’s Proyecto Zarza.
This project is zarzuela made by young people for young people, one of the undisputed and recognised values of this unique lyric theatre in the world. El sobre verde’ marks the sixth season of this initiative created by the Theatre’s director, Daniel Bianco, with the aim of popularising the genre among the 21st century generations. Year after year, the scope of a project that in the auditions held before the summer brought together more than 800 artists between the ages of 18 and 30 who aspired to become one of the 18 cast members, grows year after year.
The scheduled performances will alternate between school performances (for ESO and Bachillerato students) and performances for the general public (23, 25 and 26 February) with a total of 12 sessions. As has been the case in the five previous editions, the show will be followed by a colloquium between the audience and the artists. The school performance on Wednesday 23 February (11 a.m.) will be broadcast live on Facebook, YouTube and the Theatre’s website and will be available on these channels.
