The Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid, together with the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Universidad Autónoma and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, under the auspices of the Italian Embassy, have joined forces to create a joint programme to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the great Italian writer, poet and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini.
This intense collaboration has given rise to a programme that includes cultural and informative activities as well as scientific and academic ones. On 1 March, the reading club dedicated to Pasolini will be inaugurated at the Instituto Italiano of Culture, a cycle of two monthly readings scheduled until December 2022. Also in March, starting on 11 March, Mitofórum Pasolini: el mito en el cine will begin at the Círculo de Bellas Artes; a journey through some of the myths that Pasolini recreates in his films: 4 presentations and debates by Ángel García Galiano, Raffaele Pinto, Cristina Coriasso and Manuel Macías, organised with the Complutense University of Madrid. At the end of April, Archipiélago Pasolini: un mapa conceptual en los confines de las obras, an international conference dedicated to the figure and work of Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-2022), will be held at the Complutense University. The aim of the initiative is to highlight the great interdisciplinarity and topicality of the Italian author’s work.
The photography exhibition Ipotesi di raffigurazione/ Hypotheses of figuration will be on show at the Italian Institute from June: 60 photos by Italian and Spanish photographers investigating five themes of Pasolin’s poetics. The exhibition is curated by Marco Delogu, with the collaboration of Andrea Cortellessa and Silvia De Laude. And also in June, on 13 June, at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the debate La contradicción de llamarse Pierpaolo (The Contradiction of Being Called Pierpaolo) will take place, with Juan Barja, Aurora Freijo and Patxi Lanceros. All the activities can be consulted on the website created to celebrate this Pasolini Year.
