The Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid and the Círculo de Bellas Artes, under the auspices of the Italian Embassy in Madrid, present the jazz concert Le Nuvole di Pier Paolo, a musical project to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini, one of the world’s most important Italian writers, on 6 February at 7 p.m. at the Teatro Fernando de Rojas.
This inaugurates the Pasolini Year in Madrid, which will present a rich programme of events promoted by the Institute, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Complutense University and the Autonomous University, under the auspices of the Italian Embassy, with the aim of celebrating the great author and delving deeper into his work.
This project, produced by Esound Music&Arts, is made up of eight great Italian artists of the moment: Emilia Zamuner (voice), Daniele Sepe (saxophone), Flavio Boltro (trumpet), Daniele Di Bonaventura (bandoneon), Jacopo Mezzanotti (guitar and arrangements), Mario Nappi (piano), Davide Costagliola (double bass and bass), and Paolo Forlini (drums and percussion).
The works of Pier Paolo Pasolini, poet, writer and director, born in Bologna in 1922, have always had a strong link with sound and music. This relationship with the “grembo sonoro” led the author to collaborate with musicians of the stature of Ennio Morricone and Domenico Modugno. Jazz is the element that makes it possible to explore all the main elements of his philosophy, the guiding thread of the journey through “flesh and sky”, the two contrasting worlds so evoked by the writer. Le Nuvole di Pier Paolo is a celebration of the birth, life and philosophy of one of the most important Italian writers, who changed the history of Italy in the world. Tickets can be collected free of charge at the box office of the Círculo de Bellas Artes. More information on the Institute’s website.
