The Diplomat
The editor of the newspaper El Confidencial, Nacho Cardero, was in charge of opening yesterday a new series of Tertulias of The Diplomat, after the forced break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, under the title ‘Elections in Castilla y León: consequences for Sánchez’s Government’.
The face-to-face meeting, held at the Hotel Meliá Madrid Serrano and with the collaboration of HM Hospitales de Madrid in compliance with all health and safety measures, was attended by around twenty diplomats interested in unravelling the keys to the upcoming electoral challenges in Spain and their consequences for the governability of the rest of the country.
The Diplomat’s Tertulias will be held from now on every month to address different aspects of Spanish politics, economy and society. Its aim is to offer foreign diplomats different approaches and points of view on the Spanish reality, under the condition of strict confidentiality of what is discussed in the room.
Only twenty years after its birth, El Confidencial is the most widely read native digital newspaper on the Internet, with an audience close to 20 million readers, very near to the ‘classic’ headers of the Spanish press. Nacho Cardero has been its editor since 2011 after having previously held the positions of editor-in-chief and deputy editor of the newspaper.
