Author: Fernando Camacho Padilla.
This evening at 7 p.m. Casa Asia in Madrid presents a round table about the book Glanses of Iran. History and Culture, by Fernando Camacho Padilla.
On the occasion of the publication of this book, specialists in Iranology will analyse in this round table different historical, literary and cinematographic aspects to help understand more clearly the Iran of yesterday and today. The participants will examine the main themes of the book, which is the result of university cooperation between Spanish and Iranian centres, without forgetting the historical relations between Spain and Iran from the Middle Ages to the present day, depending on the political scenario of the time.
The development of knowledge about Iranian history and culture in Spain is still a pending issue. Despite being a country with a strong presence in the media, there are few academic works published in Spanish on the subject. However, Spain and Iran have maintained constant contact from the Middle Ages to the present day, passing through different stages, each with its own characteristics depending on the political scenario of the time. The event will be presented by Emilio de Miguel, director of the Casa Asia Centre-Madrid, with the participation of Fernando Camacho, doctor in History from the Autonomous University of Madrid and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Contemporary History at the UAM, Farshad Zahedi, lecturer in the Department of Communication at the Carlos III University of Madrid. D. in Film History from the UAM, and Fernando Escribano, lecturer in the Department of Ancient History in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the UAM. PhD in History from the Autonomous University of Madrid and La Sapienza in Rome. The event can be followed in streaming on Casa Asia’s YouTube channel, and also in person at its centre (c/ Mayor, 69, Madrid). To attend the event, prior registration is required.
