The cycle that the Fundación Japón is dedicating to Mikio Naruse, one of the great masters of Japanese cinema, begins tomorrow until 11 February at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
In this cycle, called Naruse Essentials, the eleven most outstanding titles of his essential filmography will be shown, from one of the best examples of his silent films to masterpieces such as Floating Clouds / Ukigumo (1955) or When a Woman Climbs the Stairs / Onna ga kaidan wo agaru toki (1960). After its stop in the capital, the cycle will continue to discover Naruse’s work in Barcelona (from 1 to 23 February) and A Coruña (from 2 to 15 March). The full programme can be found on the Fundación Japón website.
