Berta Valle and Victoria Cárdenas, wives of Félix Madariaga and Juan Sebastián Chamorro, presidential candidates of the opposition imprisoned in Nicaragua, will participate next Monday at 11.30 am in the Simón Bolívar hall of Casa América in a meeting between journalists and representatives of institutions and organisations.
The meeting will be presented by the Director General of Casa de América, Enrique Ojeda, and moderated by the International Director of the EFE news agency, Charo Gasca. The event coincides with the inauguration of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua. Their visit to Madrid is the start of a European tour that will also take them to Geneva and Brussels, with the aim of raising the profile of the situation of fundamental rights and freedoms in Nicaragua and, in particular, the situation of political prisoners in the country.
