From 12 January to 13 March, the Teatro Reina Victoria in Madrid presents the play Desmontando a Séneca, starring television presenter Jorge Javier Vázquez.
The well-known presenter wants to give a speech. But not just any speech, no, not at all. A speech on the book On the brevity of life, by Lucius Annaeus Seneca, the great philosopher from Cordoba. The reason? Tired of everyone considering his work on television frivolous, and after suffering a stroke, he believes that the time has come to get serious and share with the public some of the fundamental questions that concern us all: what is life; what do we do to make the most of it; do we waste our most precious commodity, time? However, despite Jorge’s constant efforts to keep his talk on a rigorous and professional track, a succession of catastrophic misfortunes, which he will have to endure with the stoicism that Seneca preaches and which he wants to adopt, will turn his discourse into a veritable pilgrimage. Since life is so short, shouldn’t we at least try to make it as much fun as possible?
