Last Friday the Nicaraguan Embassy held an Encounter-Convivio in appreciation of Solidarity with Nicaragua and the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), which included an exhibition of photographs of present-day Nicaragua and a solidarity concert by the singer-songwriters Juanjo Anaya and Ismael de la Torre.
We are here to celebrate,” said the Nicaraguan ambassador, Carlos Midence, “to meet, to become much more united and to talk about some of the events that have taken place in Nicaragua and in the world, which in the case of Nicaragua in particular have helped to boost and solidify the Sandinista revolution movement. And I am referring to the elections that took place last November 7 in my country, in which the revolution and democracy have been strengthened”.
Ambassador Carlos Midence thanked the guests for their presence at the event and in particular “the friends present who travelled as accompanying persons and who witnessed the entire electoral process that took place on that day in Nicaragua. They were direct witnesses of how the people overflowed and came out to vote and to consciously support a model that has been restoring rights and strengthening democracy, despite what the international media say”.
“I always have a maxim,” concluded the Nicaraguan ambassador, “and that is that these corporate media lie by what they say and lie even more by what they keep quiet about. In this way they lie doubly, because they evade, because they hide, because they distort the truth”.
The Nicaraguan ambassador also highlighted the re-establishment of relations between Nicaragua and the People’s Republic of China, “which solidifies and re-establishes relations between the Sandinista Front and the Communist Party of China, as two great movements that have radically transformed each of their countries, above all in the eradication of poverty, which in the case of Nicaragua has fallen from 49% to 19% during the time the Sandinista Front has been in power”.
The event ended with the tasting of some very good typical Nicaraguan dishes, as well as the aforementioned concert, which delighted the audience with the songs that were performed.
