Morandi y lo cotidiano / Morandi y lo contemporáneo are the two conferences that the Instituto Italiano de Cultura of Madrid, in collaboration with Fundación MAPFRE and in the framework of the exhibition Morandi. Infinite Resonance (until 9 January at the Fundación MAPFRE in Madrid), is holding at its headquarters today and tomorrow at 7 p.m. A retrospective look at the work of Giorgio Morandi, one of the most significant and unclassifiable artists in the history of 20th century art.
In the first, Daniela Ferrari and Alessia Masi present the figure of Giorgio Morandi in his most domestic and familiar dimension. Through a series of photographic portraits, a rich selection of photos of his studio, his home and other important documents, the aim is to explore the lesser-known aspects of his personality, focusing also on the context in which the artist worked, in order to offer a complete vision of Morandi the man, necessary for a full understanding of his artistic practice.
Tomorrow’s event will feature a conversation with Carlo Benvenuto, Dis Berlin and Andrea Facco, three of the contemporary artists sent to exhibit in the exhibition Morandi.Infinite Resonance. The dialogue, moderated by Daniela Ferrari and Alessia Masi, will get to the heart of their poetics and offer the public a particular interpretation of the work of the artist from Bologna, filtered through their eyes and their sensitivity as artists of the present, thus revealing the topicality of Morandi’s art, a “timeless” artist. Free admission with advance booking by writing to prensa.iicmadrid@esteri.it and indicating name and surname, telephone contact of all persons for whom booking is requested. The lectures will be in Italian with simultaneous translation.
