The Business Council Alliance for Ibero-America (CEAPI) and the Bogota Chamber of Commerce addressed this week in Madrid the economic reactivation of Colombia and the opportunities for collaboration between Spanish and Colombian companies.
“The productive business sector has made an extraordinary effort to emerge from the crisis unleashed by the pandemic despite the difficulties, quickly activating the recovery of pre-pandemic activities,” said the president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, Nicolas Uribe, during the second meeting between the two organizations to promote the business presence of Bogota in Spain and strengthen the Ibero-American business network, held last Friday at the OHLA headquarters in Madrid.
“The Bogota Chamber of Commerce has arranged an internationalization strategy to support companies that are interested in increasing their sales in the Spanish market and being able to mitigate the drop in their production and income,” he continued. “Increasing opportunities for Spain-Colombia business collaboration is one of our main commitments,” he added.
During the meeting, the economic reactivation process in Colombia was discussed, with special attention to the role of entrepreneurship as “a fundamental pillar for development and a key agent in the country’s recovery”, as well as the opportunities for business collaboration between Spain, Ibero-America and Colombia. The meeting between CEAPI and the Chamber of Commerce held last October in Bogota was also followed up.
“Businessmen are the main actors of development for a positive evolution of the Colombian and Spanish economy, and our responsibility is to ensure all the tools that facilitate this path towards a better Iberoamerica, through a collaborative and public-private leadership,” said the president of CEAPI, Núria Vilanova, before the attendees, among whom was a delegation of businessmen members of the Chamber, including Luis Guillermo Echeverri, director of Ecopetrol.
“Colombia is a good place to establish and grow,” said OHLA CEO and host of the meeting, José Antonio Fernández Gallar. “OHLA has been present in Latin America for more than 40 years and Colombia has always been a reference for this company,” he recalled. “So much so that, in this country, OHLA has been developing infrastructure projects since 2008, and has more than 1,000 employees,” he concluded.
