Acciona Energy has signed an agreement with Casa dos Ventos, Brazil’s largest renewable energy investor group, to acquire two wind projects under development (Sento Se I and II) in the state of Bahia, with a maximum combined capacity of 850 megawatts (MW).

The two wind farms are still in the process of obtaining all the necessary procedures and authorisations for their execution and, in addition, the purchase transaction is subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions and the mandatory approval of the competition authorities.

Once the authorisations have been obtained, which is expected to happen next year, the company could approve the investment and begin construction, which would involve an estimated investment of 800 million euros, according to a statement.

The purchase of these two projects under development in Bahia represents the first step in Acciona Energía’s entry into the Brazilian renewable generation market, where it is also exploring other wind and photovoltaic projects.

The utility has set itself the goal of doubling its size and reaching 20 GW of installed capacity by 2025 from a portfolio of 9.8 GW of projects in advanced development, to which the 850 MW of wind power in the state of Bahia will be added.
