On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is celebrated every year on November 29th, Casa Árabe is organising Palestine Week, a full programme of activities, until December 5th.
Since 1977, on 29 November every year, the UN commemorates the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The date was chosen because of its significance for the Palestinian people. Three decades earlier, on the same day in 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 181, later known as the “partition resolution”, which provided for the creation of a “Jewish State” and an “Arab State” in Palestine, with Jerusalem as an international city. Of the two states envisaged in the resolution, only one has been created so far: Israel. This anniversary allows the international community to focus its attention on the fact that the question of Palestine remains unresolved.
The programme we have prepared on this occasion includes:
– Monday 29 November: Presentation of Las cocinas de Gaza, with Maggie Schmitt, Raquel Martí and Sylvia Oussedik.
– Tuesday 30 November: Frontiers and promises, with Haya Zaatry
– Wednesday 1 December: Screening of the documentary Condenadas en Gaza, by Ana Alba and Beatriz Lecumberri, and subsequent debate.
– Thursday 2 December: Conference Unity and Resistance: Towards a Palestinian Transition?, with Ramzy Baroud and Itxaso Domínguez de Olazábal
– From Monday 29 November: Exhibition Sentir Gaza, by photographer Mahmoud Alkurd, organised by UNRWA Spain in collaboration with Casa Árabe.
