The president of the Correos Group, Juan Manuel Serrano, informed this week the businessmen about “the deep transformation” that the company is carrying out “in the field of internationalization” in order to become “a logistics hub between Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America”.

The increase in the company’s international presence and its adaptation to new operational and business needs are the two great challenges that “will mark a before and after” in Correos’ relationship with Latin America, said Juan Manuel Serrano last Thursday during a business meeting organized by the Business Council Alliance for Latin America (CEAPI) in the Tendam Retail Showroom in Madrid, which was attended by CEAPI’s president, Núria Vilanova, and several Latin American business leaders, including Jordi Hereu, president of Hispasat; Pedro Pérez-Llorca, managing partner of Pérez-Llorca; and Ramón Galcerán, president of Grant Thornton.

Another important objective of the company, continued Serrano, is to contribute to boosting the Spanish economy, helping the business fabric to take advantage of Correos’ strategic location to become “a logistics hub between Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America”.

For all these reasons, he said, Correos is firmly committed to diversification, digitalization, internationalization and improving its efficiency, as well as to social and environmental sustainability and job creation, “without neglecting the challenges of its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. For the group, internationalization is one of the levers needed to seek new flows of ecommerce business, mainly from Asia. “We remain committed to becoming a logistics platform for the flow of goods between Asia and Latin America, taking advantage of our ties and knowledge of this market,” added the president of the Correos Group.

For her part, Núria Vilanova said that the Correos Group’s new projects “are magnificent news for Spain and Latin America”.  “The expected growth of Correos, as well as other companies with interests in Latin America, will be essential to strengthen the ties between Europe and the region,” she added.
