On Fridays and Saturdays from the 22nd to the 30th of October and on the 12th and 13th of November at 7.30pm, Casa de América offers the opportunity to see one of the most notable opera primas of recent Ibero-American film production, the Peruvian film Canción sin nombre, directed by the director and screenwriter Melina León.
Canción sin nombre has been part of the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival, France, 2019 (Directors’ Fortnight) and has received, among other awards, the Colón de Oro for Best Feature Film, the Colón de Plata for Best Direction and the Colón de Plata for Best Technical-Artistic Contribution at the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival, Spain, 2019. Inspired by true events, it is the story of Georgina Condori, an Andean woman whose newborn baby mysteriously disappears. In the midst of the political chaos of the time, Pedro Campos, a young journalist from Lima, takes charge of the investigation and embarks on a desperate search with her. Set in the 1980s, the film takes place at the height of the economic crisis and the rise of the Shining Path.
