As part of La Noche de los Libros (The Book Night), this evening at 6 p.m. the Instituto Italiano de Cultura of Madrid is organising the round table discussion Cento anni con Leonardo Sciasciacia e grandi autori italiani (A hundred years with Leonardo Sciascia and great Italian authors). Sciasciacia (in the photo) and Sicily, Sciascia and Italy, Sciascia and Spain, Sciascia and Europe, Sciascia and Italian literature… The centenary of his birth opens up these and countless other dimensions of the extraordinary personality of this intellectual whose topicality is perhaps surprising, especially today.
In this meeting, moderated by Marialuisa Pappalardo, at the Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid, together with Aurora Conde, professor at the Complutense University of Madrid; Manuel Rivero, professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid, and Giuseppe Grosso, editorial director of Altamarea, we will reflect on the long and indelible legacy that Sciascia has left to world literature; we will talk about his relations with other Italian writers, trying to use the reflection to reopen the discourse on “Italian literatures”. Meeting in Italian and Spanish without simultaneous translation. Free admission, with prior reservation request, writing to carla.morpurgo@esteri.it and indicating name, surname and telephone contact of all persons for whom the reservation is requested and in the subject “Book Night”.
