The Theatre of the Instituto Francés in Madrid presents the trio formed by the French singer Catherine Passion, the American guitarist Cy Williams and the French-Spanish trumpeter Victor Aguilar Duchemin, who have prepared a concert that pays tribute to the famous French singer Boris Vian, next Thursday 30 September at 8 pm.
They will give new life to some of his famous songs such as A tous les enfants and Le déserteur, with original and sparkling arrangements that evoke all the grace of this singular composer. Boris Vian – the French writer and bon vivant who also worked as an actor, cabaret singer, trumpeter and journalist – captured his love of jazz in over 500 songs, later covered by singers such as Edith Piaf, Joan Baez, Catherine Sauvage and Yves Montand. Catherine Passion’s warm and powerful voice, from the best classical school, is perfectly suited to the expression and swinging rhythms of these songs. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
