Vietnam has agreed with the Spanish pharmaceutical company Hipra to purchase 50 million doses of its Covid-19 vaccine, which will be supplied once the necessary local clinical studies have been carried out and the Vietnamese authorities have given the go-ahead.
The agreement was signed on Saturday in Helsinki (Finland), where Hipra management and several representatives of the Vietnamese government, among others, travelled, the company said in a statement yesterday.
The Hipra vaccine uses a recombinant protein-based platform designed to “optimise safety and induce a potent immune response” to neutralise the virus. “One of the advantages” it offers is that it can be stored between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius, which facilitates distribution and logistics.
Hipra said it is in constant communication with global organisations and governments through embassies to raise awareness of its vaccine and to establish agreements to make it “accessible”.
