Senegal, the Instituto Cervantes in Dakar. Cultures back and forth

On the occasion of the recent opening of the Instituto Cervantes centre in Dakar (in the photo), the public cultural organisation is presenting a round table discussion tomorrow at 7 p.m. at its headquarters in Madrid, bringing together experiences of success and professional development through the professions of culture, education and entrepreneurship.

The opening of the Instituto Cervantes centre in the African country was presented as an opportunity to promote and disseminate Spanish culture in Senegal, but it is also a call to take a round trip to present Senegalese culture and traditions in Spain, to focus on the migrant diaspora and to propose a dialogue within the objective of our external cultural action. The round table will be presented by Luis García Montero, Director of the Instituto Cervantes; José Luis Escrivá, Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, and Ángel Víctor Torres, President of the Government of the Canary Islands. Participants include musicians Sudy Samb and Cherif Badua; Spanish photographer Juan Valbuena; and businesswoman Tida Coly. The director of the Instituto Cervantes in Dakar, Néstor Nongo, will moderate the event. The event will be broadcast in streaming on the Instituto Cervantes live channel and on the Youtube channel. As part of the initiative to promote Senegalese culture and traditions in Spain, the Instituto Cervantes is presenting a concert at its headquarters in Madrid by the group Chapa Choly, a 15-member artistic group made up of percussionists, dancers, singers and acrobats who bring us closer to popular African folklore. Their proposal combines dance, songs and African percussion. To book your place, click here.
