Former State Secretary for Global Spain, Manuel Muñiz, has rejoined IE University as Provost and Dean of the IE School of Global and Public Affairs, the institution announced yesterday.
Muñiz took charge of the newly created State Secretariat for Global Spain at the end of January 2020, following the arrival of Arancha González Laya at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and left the post when she was relieved of her duties on 10 July. One of his main tasks while in the post was to take forward the 2021-2024 External Action Strategy.
Muñiz now returns to IE University, which has entrusted him with the task of promoting the international expansion of the university and creating and consolidating new strategic alliances. IE University welcomes students every year from over 140 countries, has a diverse alumni network of 65,000 members, and keeps permanent offices in over 30 countries.
As Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs, Manuel Muñiz will work to strengthen research and teaching in the fields of public policy and global affairs.
The former State Secretary a transversal unit that ensures that the Humanities permeate IE Universiwill also resume his responsibilities as Head of the Arts and Humanities Division,ty’s teaching and are part of the student experience. He will also be Co-Chair of the Center for the Governance of Change, a research center that studies the impact of technology on society.
Manuel Muñiz replaces Susana Malcorra as Dean of IE School of Global and Public Affairs. Malcorra, former Foreign Minister of Argentina and Chief of Staff of the UN Executive Office, will continue her engagement with IE University as a Senior Advisor.
