The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has postponed the trip he was to make to Egypt and Kenya next week to follow from Spain the evolution of the process of evacuating Afghan citizens from Afghanistan.
Sánchez will chair the first meeting of the Council of Ministers after the summer break on Tuesday, 24 August, and was to begin a visit to Cairo and Nairobi on the same day, which would last until Thursday. Meetings with the Egyptian and Kenyan presidents were scheduled to take place during the tour.
Yesterday, the government announced that Sánchez has finally decided to postpone his trip to Africa and remain in Madrid to supervise the evacuation of Afghan collaborators who have cooperated with Spain and EU institutions, as well as other groups at risk.
