This evening at 8 p.m., Casa América presents the Vayayó concert series, which will feature both Latin American artists living in Madrid and Spanish artists who draw on the spirit of cross-border song. Limited capacity.
Opening the first edition of the cycle will be Mr. Kilombo, the alter ego of Miki Ramírez, one of Madrid’s artists with the most mestizo spirit and, with five albums under his belt and a legion of fans that have taken him to perform in countries such as Mexico and Colombia, one of the leading figures in a singer-songwriter song that draws as much from Latin American popular music as from reggae, ska or the most sincere and frontal depth of the singer-songwriter song. Madrid’s cultural idiosyncrasy could not be understood without the city’s capacity to welcome and mix with other cultures. And in this multicultural and babelic back-and-forth, the Latin American community has been part of the genetics of our country’s culture for decades.
