The exhibition Maramureș: traditions and stories will be on display at the headquarters of the Instituto Cultural Rumano in Madrid until 5 August. The exhibition is divided into two sections, one photographic and one ethnographic, and presents an authentic rural universe, enchanting in its simplicity and traditions.
The photography exhibition invites you on a visual journey into the world of the people of Maramureș, bringing together in images festivals, customs, chores, handicrafts, portraits, old wooden churches, landscapes with haystacks and other elements that give Maramureș its cultural identity. In the ethnographic exhibition, the Regional Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art Maramureș takes valuable objects out of the boot of the trousseau and presents them in an unconventional way, with a guaranteed visual impact. Elements of traditional clothing – cămeși (shirts), șorțuri (aprons), zadii (embroidered aprons), poale (hems), clopuri (hats), brâuri (belts) – alongside pieces from the domestic world – șterguri (towels), cerge (blankets), perguri (blankets), perguri (towels), perguri (towels), perguri (towels), perguri (towels), perguri (towels), perguri (towels), perguri (towels), cerge (blankets), perini (pillows), lepedeuri de rudă (sheets) – demonstrate the finesse of traditional art, the meticulousness of manual work and the appreciation of ancestral values.
