The Instituto Cultural Rumano of Madrid, the “George Enescu” National Museum of Bucharest and the Instituto Francés of Madrid present next Tuesday, July 6th, at 19.30 at the Theatre of the Instituto Francés of Madrid Enesco within reach of all, a project on the memory of George Enescu’s presence in the world of musical art, celebrating the 140th anniversary of the birth of the great Romanian artist. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
The composer, conductor, violinist, pianist and teacher George Enescu (1881-1955) remains in history as one of the most important cultural personalities of the 20th century. He assumed the role of musical ambassador both in Romania and the rest of the world, was involved in the promotion of Romanian music and contributed to the international recognition of Romanian composers, conductors and artists. The event will feature a concert by baritone Ștefan Ignat, soloist of the Bucharest National Opera, accompanied by pianist Remus Manoleanu, associate professor at the National University of Music in Bucharest. There will also be an exhibition dedicated to the life and activity of George Enescu, organised by the “George Enescu” National Museum in Bucharest, with images, photographs and other information on the life and work of the great Romanian musician. The exhibition will be attended by José Luis García del Busto, musicologist and music critic from Soaniol, member of the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid.
