Prointec, Indra’s civil engineering subsidiary, and its partner, Latvia’s Forma 2, have won a contract to supervise the construction of Riga International Airport’s railway station for EUR 5.85 million, according to a statement from the Spanish company.
The companies will provide their services during the ten-year construction and five-year guarantee phase.
The work includes the station building, the access tracks, the new railway line and the 10-metre-high flyover that will connect the terminal with the airport facilities, the first intermodal walkway of its kind in Latvia.
With this contract, Prointec reinforces its participation in Rail Baltica, the largest railway infrastructure project in Europe, which aims to link the capitals of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with an 870-kilometre high-speed line, as well as to connect with the rest of Europe through the double-track and standard gauge network.
