The Diplomat
The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova, Violeta Agrici, presented on 29 April at the Casino de Madrid a detailed and comprehensive lecture on the history and current affairs of her country, organised on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the European state.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Academy of Diplomacy of the Kingdom of Spain, the Board of Directors of the Royal Casino of Madrid and the Spanish Forum of Diplomacy and Civil Society.
The Moldovan ambassador spoke about her country’s foreign and domestic policy, the current political situation, future prospects, but also a vast account of the attractive sectors of the economy, investment opportunities and advantages offered by this Eastern European country. A special focus was placed on the presentation of niche products, offers from the tourism industry and its art and culture.
Moldova must be stabilised,” stressed Violeta Agrici, “and freedom, justice and equality must be achieved. The European agenda is a priority, for the implementation of European standards with the support of the European people. My country’s trade with the European Union has grown by 67%, in the framework of excellent relations, and very positive economic and trade data for the future”. Moldova, the Moldovan ambassador concluded, “is a gateway between the West and the East”.
José Luis Orella, professor of Humanities and Communication Sciences at CEU University, gave an excellent and detailed presentation on the history of the Moldovan territory, from Roman Dacia (106-270) to Russian rule and independence (1991).
Moreover, the participants of the conference enjoyed in a real atmosphere the beauty and uniqueness of the national T-shirts, sewn by the members of the Mastery Club of the Republic of Moldova, while offering the knowledge of the meaning of this exceptional element of folklore and national heritage, with the symbolism and spiritual significance of the cut details, sewn posters and colours used in skiing.
