Teresa Fernández Herrera, author of Flamencos, conversaciones con artistas, and Pedro Lorenzo de Castro, producer, producer and presenter of the programme El arte en las Ondas, tell this evening at 7 pm at the Instituto Francés in Madrid how flamenco brings people together and crosses borders.
The flamenco dancer María Juncal will also take part, who will talk about some of the amazing themes of her interview in the book. Flamenco is one of the ties that deeply binds France and Spain. With more than a century of enthusiasm, Andalusian art is present in France through such famous festivals as those of Nîmes, Mont de Marsan, Toulouse, Marseille, Biennale d’Art Flamenco de Paris, where the creations of the great Spanish artists can be seen. Between September 2017 and February 2020, Teresa Fernández Herrera conducted a series of interviews to “lay the soul bare and delve into the psychosociology of flamenco”. There are thirty-two testimonies of dancers/choreographers, singers, musicians, established and emerging artists, women and men, gypsies and payos, which reveal the evolution of flamenco from the 19th century to the present day.
