Iberdrola increases its renewable energy production by 13.3% in the first quarter of 2021

Iberdrola cut its total worldwide production in the first quarter of 2021 by 0.8% compared to the same period last year, to 42,952 gigawatt hours (GWh), but increased its production in renewables by 13.3% to 22,798 GWh, with an outstanding growth in offshore wind (+25.8%).

 

 

According to data submitted by the company to the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), in Spain, the energy company’s production in the first three months of the year grew by 12.1% compared to the first quarter of 2020, to 17,450 GWh.

 

The group’s total installed capacity at the end of March amounted to 55,393 megawatts (MW), of which 63% (35,089 MW) was renewable, following an increase of more than 2,752 MW compared to last year.
Of this installed capacity, 33% corresponded to onshore wind power, with 18,547 MW, while offshore wind power reached 1,258 MW.

 

In Spain, installed capacity in renewables was 17,570 MW, after an increase of almost 1,000 MW compared to a year ago, mainly solar, 66% of the group’s total 26,794 MW in the country.
