The Diplomat
The State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Ibero-America and the Caribbean, Cristina Gallach, received yesterday in her office the new Colombian ambassador to Spain, Luis Guillermo Plata, who recently took up his post in Madrid.
Gallach welcomed the ambassador on her Twitter account and said that the meeting served to deepen “close relations with Colombia”.
The State Secretary added that the two countries will move forward together on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, as well as on the regional agenda, and specifically on the upcoming Ibero-American summit in Andorra, and on sustainable development.
Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha González Laya, paid a visit to Colombia, where she was received by the President of that country, Iván Duque, and which led to a new diplomatic incident with Venezuela, after the head of Spanish diplomacy visited Venezuelan refugees on the border between the two Ibero-American countries, which upset the Bolivarian regime of Nicolás Maduro.
