Iberdrola and Mercadona have joined forces to promote electric mobility in Portugal through 40 recharging points distributed throughout their 20 shops in the country, according to the two companies.

Specifically, the points are located in the districts of Aveiro (5), Braga (2), Porto (12) and Viana do Castelo (1). The charging points, already available, are integrated in the MOBI.E electric mobility network and have a power of 22 kilowatts (kW).

In addition, the charging infrastructure network, which will be operated by the group chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán, will be expanded this year by eight new shops, which will also have electric charging points, installed and operated by the energy company.

The director of Smart Mobility at Iberdrola Portugal, Pedro Torres, stressed that this alliance allows the group to respond to the needs of its customers.

“Iberdrola believes that the way to develop products and services is to know them, understand their needs and turn them into solutions. If we want to change the energy market, making it more sustainable and cleaner, we have to help consumers, as they will be our main partners in this transformation”, he added.

Mercadona already has a total of 20 shops in Portugal. In 2021, it plans to open another nine shops in the districts of Porto, Braga and Aveiro.

Iberdrola and Mercadona said they are “committed to electric mobility, helping families and companies in the energy transition process”.
