In the framework of the General Collaboration Agreement between El Colegio de México, A.C. and the Casa de México in Spain, this afternoon at 6 p.m. there will be a virtual presentation of the Diccionario del Español de México and subsequent dialogue and reflections on the subject.
This dictionary brings together approximately 25,000 words. Each word, in turn, has several meanings. Nearly 50,000 meanings or meanings correspond to this dictionary. With the idea that the service provided by the Diccionario del español usual is complete with regard to the use of the language, tables have been added to facilitate the consultation of spelling, punctuation, verb conjugations and the uses of verb tenses. The appendices include tables of important Mexican and Latin American gentilicisms and a table of how to write numbers. Participating in the event are Francisco Segovia, editor and corrector of the Diccionario del Español de México of El Colegio de México; Dr. Silvia Giorguli, president of El Colegio de México; Mtra. Ximena Caraza, General Director of Casa de México in Spain; Dr. Fernando Lara, Doctor in Hispanic Linguistics and Literature at El Colegio de México; Francisco Carriscondo, Professor at the University of Málaga and specialist in Hispanic Linguistics, and Cecilio Garriga, Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and specialist in Hispanic Philology.
