The Diplomat
Riccardo Guariglia, Ambassador of Italy, participated in the first meeting of 2021 of the Board of Directors of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain (CCIS), based in Madrid, held in virtual format.
The Italian ambassador highlighted during his speech how the pandemic crisis has severely affected both the Italian and Spanish economies, with inevitable repercussions on bilateral trade between the two countries, which in any case remains very high. “The recent new Italian operations in Spain, from renewable energies to fintech, and Spanish ones in Italy, from the infrastructure sector to telecommunications, are nevertheless very significant with regard to a promising trend that, despite the pandemic, is moving towards a further strengthening of mutual investments. We hope that this positive dynamic -said Guariglia- can reasonably continue in the coming months, also thanks to the specific measures taken by the Farnesina”.
The Ambassador especially appreciated the excellent placement of the CCIS in the annual ranking of the performance of the network of chambers abroad drafted by the Ministry of Economic Development for the year 2019, recently published, and in which the Chamber of Madrid came in second place. On this occasion, similar words of appreciation were expressed towards the work of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona (seventh place).
“We have to prepare for the return to business and be ready to intercept the new opportunities that we will see coming,” concluded Ambassador Guariglia, who assured the full support of the Embassy to the CCIS.
