The new Hungarian Ambassador to Spain, Katalin Toth, has handed over her Copias de Estilo at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the Ambassadors’ Introducer, Caridad Batalla.
Katalin Toth fills the vacancy left by the previous Hungarian Ambassador, László Odrobina, who left his post, of his own free will, last September, after having held the post for only one year. Since then, the “number two”, Vajk Farkas, has been in charge of the Embassy as Chargé d’Affaires.
The new ambassador has worked for years at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she worked on matters related to European projects, the diplomatic corps and relations with the Hungarian diaspora, sources at the Embassy told The Diplomat.
Between 2014 and 2018 she was deputy state secretary for European and International Affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture. In May 2020 she was appointed her country’s ambassador to Peru, where she has stayed for only nine months.
After her arrival in Madrid, according to the quoted sources, Katalin Toth, has stressed that one of her main tasks will be to deepen relations between Spain and Hungary and maintain a close relationship with the Hungarian community residing in this country.
