The Romanian Embassy, in collaboration with the Instituto Cultural Rumano of Madrid and the City Council of Alcalá de Henares, presents until 28 March in Alcalá de Henares the exhibition The Traditional Romanian People/ People and Crafts, by the Romanian photographer Sorin Onişor, on the occasion of the anniversary of 140 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Spain.

Hosted in the “Antonio López” exhibition hall of the Old Hospital of Santa María la Rica, the exhibition is made up of 30 photographs by the Romanian artist and is an opportunity to encounter unpublished landscapes or characters, which speak of the beauty and poetry of the Romanian people. The exhibition aims to invite visitors to discover a world considered to have disappeared, which is mixed with an idyllic landscape: a traditional rural area, with ox-drawn carts, where peasants wearing hats cut hay or where grandmothers, with rosy cheeks, still weave wool, all proudly wearing traditional costume. Sorin Onişor, known as the “photographer of the Romanian people”, has been travelling through Romanian villages for more than 12 years, capturing the magic of lost traditions in his photographs. He is considered a milestone for photography and photojournalism. His spectacular landscapes and poetic portraits bring a new style to Romanian photography.
