The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha González Laya, reiterated yesterday, during her visit to Qatar that “democracy in Spain is full, solid and strong”, after the second vice-president of the Government, Pablo Iglesias, questioned the democratic normality in our country, aligning himself with Russia’s criticism of the imprisonment of pro-independence politicians who participated in the events of 1-O.

At a press conference in Doha with her Qatari counterpart, Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al Zani, the minister did not want to insist on the polemic with Iglesias, but insisted that Spaniards know that Spain is a full democracy, because they have known “systems that were not democratic in the past”.
