The Nicaraguan Ambassador, Carlos Midence, yesterday held a virtual meeting with the Rector of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Antonio López Díaz, with the aim of opening cooperation and friendship ties with Nicaragua.

The ambassador conveyed his greetings and thanks on behalf of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity and the Nicaraguan people. He also informed him of his country’s achievements, emphasising education at all levels and in all programmes.

For his part, the Rector of the University expressed his congratulations for the policies of the Nicaraguan government, aimed at improving the quality of life of their families. They also spoke of the importance of strengthening, updating and matching education, which is a fundamental pillar for the development of nations.

Likewise, Antonio López Díaz showed interest in promoting collaboration programmes and projects in the fields of research, reinforcement, doctoral studies, master’s degrees and teaching cooperation, which could be materialised through specific agreements or through a collaboration agreement with institutions of higher education in the Caribbean country, in particular the UNAN, Managua, as it has related faculties and careers.
